 महत्वपूर्ण त्योहार - भारत त्योहारों का देश है और ये हिंदू और अन्य संप्रदायों का प्रमुख त्योहार है: -
 
'भगवान कृष्ण' / 'जन्माष्टमी' पूजा :-
 
गोविंदा के नाम से जाने, जाने वाले कृष्ण जन्माष्टमी को भगवान कृष्ण के जन्मदिन के रूप में स्मरण करते हैं। इस त्योहार का एक बहुत ही मजेदार हिस्सा यह है की इसमें भक्त जन एक-दूसरे पर चढ़कर और एक पिरामिड बनाने की कोशिश करते है, जिससे कि वो दही से भरे मिट्टी के बर्तन को जो की  बहुत ऊँचा लगाया जाता है, उसे तोड़ने का प्रयास करते है| इस दहीहंडी त्यौहार में सभी उम्र के लोग, जवान से बूढ़े, रुचि रखते हैं।
 
कृष्ण जन्माष्टमी पूजा की प्रक्रिया:-
 
रात्रि पूजा (रात पूजा) :  इस पूजा में आप अपने तुलसी माला प्रार्थना मोतियों पर हरे कृष्ण महा-मंत्र का उच्चारण कर सकते हैं। यदि आपके पास कृष्ण देवता की मूर्ति हैं, तो उन्हें सुन्दर नए कपड़े पहनाएं। तथा अपनी पवित्र वेदी को सजाने के लिए विशेष ध्यान दें। मंदिर में स्थित मूर्ति के लिए दही, शहद, घी के साथ अभिषेक स्नान समारोह आयोजित करें और भक्ति गीतों को गाते हुए कृष्ण  को स्नान कराएं। मंदिरों में जन्माष्टमी पर कम से कम 108 अलग-अलग भोग तैयार करते हैं।  रात्रि काल ही सही समय है जब भगवान कृष्ण पृथ्वी पर प्रकट हुए, इसलिए यह सबसे शुभ और आध्यात्मिक प्रेरणादायक पल  है। यदि आपके पास एक बाल कृष्ण की मूर्ति है तो घर पर उसे  प्रेम से रख कर और उसे धीरे से झुला झुलायें, जैसे कि आप अपने बच्चे को करते हैं।  भगवान कृष्ण का प्रसाद पुरी, द्वारका, श्रीनाथ जी, गंगाजल और तुलसी माला के  प्रसाद के साथ मिलकर यहां पूजा करें।
 
गुरुपर्व :-
 
गुरूपर्व सिख त्योहार हैं जो गुरु नानक और नौ गुरुओं के जीवन का जश्न मनाते हैं जो इस अवसर पर गुरुओं के जीवन और शिक्षाओं पर विशेष सम्मेलनों और लंगर (सामुदायिक भोजन) गुरूद्वारों में आयोजित किए जाते हैं। कराह प्रसाद सभी के बीच वितरित किया जाता है, और भजन गायन जुलूस शहर में आयोजित किया जाता है। लोग अपने घरों को दीपक और मोमबत्तियों के साथ चमकाते हैं और गुरपुरब मनाने के लिए पटाखे फटा रहे हैं। भजन-कीर्तन (भजन), गुरुद्वारों में गुरबानी, लंगर और करह प्रसाद यह पूरे चंद्रमा के दिन हिंदू लन्नीसोलर कैलेंडर के कार्तिक के महीने में मनाया जाता है, जो कि ग्रेगोरीयन कैलेंडर के नवम्बर के अनुरूप है।
 
गणेश चतुर्थी:-
 
यह त्यौहार लगातार ग्यारह दिनों में गणेश चतुर्थी उत्सव के रूप में भगवान गणेश के जन्म के उपलक्ष में मानाते हैं। त्योहार की शुरूआत घरों और पण्डाल में स्थापित गणेश के विशाल, विस्तृत रूप से तैयार किए गए मूर्तियों से करते है, जिन्हें विशेष रूप से निर्मित और खूबसूरती से सजाया गया है। त्योहार के अंत में, मूर्तियों को सड़कों पर प्रदर्शित किया जाता है, साथ में बहुत गायन और नृत्य किया जाता है, और फिर पानी में विसर्जित किया जाता है।
 
गणेश चतुर्थी पूजन विधी:-
 
भगवान गणेश या गणपति, भगवान और बाधाओं के विनाशकारी, भारत में एक अत्यंत लोकप्रिय भगवान है उन्हें विघ्नेश्वर या विघ्नहर्ता भी कहा जाता है। ज्यादातर लोगों ने सिद्धि, उपक्रमों में सफलता, बुद्धि प्राप्ति के लिए उनकी पूजा करते हैं। किसी भी उद्यम शुरू होने से पहले उसकी पूजा की जाती है वह शिक्षा, ज्ञान और ज्ञान, साहित्य और ललित कला के देवता भी हैं। यह पूजा आमतौर पर गणेश चतुर्थी दिवस (यानी चौथे दिन) पर चंद्रमा के उज्ज्वल आधे चंद्रमा पर की जाती है। पूजा अगर संभव हो तो प्रात:काल (6:00 या इससे पहले) और दोपहर में की जाती है। रात में पूजा अर्चना होती है। आरंभ में कुछ कर्णप्रिय भारतीय संगीत (शहनाई या सात्तुर या सिताहार या नादासवरम - अधिमानतः किसी भी साधन) को पृष्ठभूमि में चलाना है| कलश को धोएं और इसे 3/4 तक स्वच्छ पानी से भरें। कवर और वेदी के पास रखें सामने का दरवाजा, वेदी और वेदी के पास की जगह को सजाने के लिए। पूजा के लिए सभी चीजों को वेदी के पास रखें, अपने रिश्तेदारों, मित्रों (जो भगवान में भक्ति है) को आमंत्रित करें। इस त्योहार को बहुत खुशी और ऊर्जा के साथ मनाया जाता है|
 
राखी/ रक्षा बंधन:-
 
भारत का एक और मशहूर त्योहार, राखी हिंदूओं के बीच मनाया जाता है। भाई-बहन के संबंध में, बहन राखी के दौरान, अपने भाई की आरती करती है, प्रार्थना करती है, और उसके कल्याण के लिए कामना है। भाई, बदले में, बहिन की रक्षा के लिए प्रतिज्ञा करता है| एक और त्योहार जो राखी के समान मजबूत है, वह है भाई दूज जो दिवाली के बाद आता है। इन त्योहारों का उद्देश्य एक भाई और बहन के मजबूत संबंध को मजबूत बनाना है।
 
शिवरात्रि :-
 
शिवरात्रि के दिन, सुबह जल्दी उठना चाहिए और स्नान करना चाहिए। इसे पानी में काले तिल के बीज जोड़ने का सुझाव दिया गया है। यह माना जाता है कि शिवरात्रि के दिन पवित्र स्नान न केवल शरीर को शुद्ध करता है बल्कि आत्मा भी शुद्ध करता है। स्नान करने के बाद स्नान करने वालों को व्रत के पुरे दिन का पालन करना चाहिए और अगले दिन उपवास तोड़ना चाहिए। व्रत उपवास अवधि के दौरान भक्तों को आत्मनिर्णय के लिए प्रतिज्ञा करनी चाहए हैं और भगवान शिव के आशीर्वाद को बिना किसी बाधा के  पूरा करने का प्रयास करना चाहिए हैं। उपवास के दौरान भक्तों को सभी प्रकार के भोजन से दूर रहना चाहिए। उपवास के सख्त रूप में पानी की अनुमति भी नहीं है। हालांकि, व्रत में  सागार, फलों और दूध का सेवन दिन के समय किया जाता है, जिसके बाद रात में सख्त उपवास किया जाना चाहिए। दूसरे शब्दों में दिन के दौरान फल और दूध का सेवन किया जा सकता है। शाम को शिव पूजा करने या मंदिर जाने से पहले भक्तों को शाम में दूसरा स्नान करना चाहिए। अगर मंदिर में नहीं जा पाता है तो पूजा विधी को पूरा करने के लिए घर पर शिव लिंग को बनाया जा सकता है। पूजा विधि के अनुसार, शिव लिंग का अभिषेक विभिन्न सामग्रियों के साथ किया जाना चाहिए। अभिषेक के लिए दूध, पानी, चंदन, दही, शहद, घी, चीनी और पानी का उपयोग सामान्यतः किया जाता है। चार प्रहर पूजा करने वाले भक्तों को प्रथम प्राहार के दौरान पानी अभिषेक करना चाहिए, द्वितीय प्राहार के दौरान अभिषेक को दोगुना करना चाहिए, तीसरे प्राहार के दौरान घी अभिषेक और चौथा प्राहार के दौरान मधु अभिषेक अन्य सामग्रियों के अलावा। अभिषेक के अनुष्ठान के बाद, शिव लिंग बेल पत्तियों से बने माला के साथ सुशोभित किया जाता है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि बेल ने भगवान शिव को शांत करता है उसके बाद चन्दन या कुमकुम को शिव लिंग पर लगाया जाता है जिसके बाद प्रकाश दीपक और धूपा का पालन किया जाता है। भगवान शिव को सजाने के लिए इस्तेमाल किए जाने वाले अन्य चीजों में आकडे का फूल शामिल है जिसे आक के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, विभूति जिसे भस्म के रूप में जाना जाता है विभूति पवित्र राख है जो सूखे गाय के गोबर का उपयोग करते हैं। उम नमः अलावा (ओम नमः शिव) मंत्र है जो पूजा अवधि के दौरान गाया जाता है।
 
करवा चौथ : -
 
हिन्दू महिलाएं करवा चौथ की पूजा देवी पार्वती का आशीर्वाद पाने के लिए करती है। इसमें महिलाएं दीवार पर देवी गौरी और चौथ माता का चित्र बनाती हैं या माता पार्वती की पूजा करने के लिए चौथ पूजा कैलेंडर पर चौथ माता की छवि की पूजा करती हैं। देवी गौड़ा और चौथ माता देवी पार्वती के प्रतिनिधित्व हैं व्रतराज के अनुसार करवा चौथ पूजा करने के लिए सबसे अच्छा समय, संध्या के समय के दौरान होता है जो सूर्यास्त के बाद शुरू होता है।

‘Lord Krishna’/‘Janmashtami’ pooja:-

Krishna Janmashtami, also known as Govinda, commemorates the birthday of Lord Krishna. An extremely fun part of the festival involves people climbing on each other and forming a human pyramid to try and reach and break open clay pots filled with curd, which have been strung up high from buildings. This activity is also known as ‘Dahi Handi’ in some parts of India & people of all ages, from young to old, take keen interest in it.

Procedure of Krishna Janmashtami pooja :-

Nishita Puja time (night puja): 23:50 p.m. to 00:42 +1 a.m. , next day Parana time : 8:10 a.m. (breaking fast) You could also chant the Hare Krishna maha-mantra on your Tulasi Mala prayer beads. This is believed to be an intimate one-to-one exch1ange with Krishna, and makes you feel much closer to the Lord. If you have Radha-Krishna deities, get extra beautifull new clothes for them. Be creative and pay special attention to decorating their sacred altar. Recreate the temple program and hold an abhishekam bathing ceremony for your deities with yogurt, honey, ghee and bathe the deity with them while singing devotional songs.Temples prepare at least 108 different dishes on Janmashtami. Imagine that Krishna was actually right there, in your house—what would you offer Him? This makes for a wonderful thought while cooking on Janmashtami. Have a midnight arati (worship ceremony) at home with a kirtan. This is the exact time that Lord Krishna appeared on earth, so it is most auspicious and spiritually inspiring. If you have a baby Krishna at home put Him lovingly on a cradle befitting the size of the idol and swing him slowly like you would treat your baby. Gurpurab :-

Gurpurabs are sikh festivals which celebrate the lives of Guru Nanak and of the nine gurus who followed him On this occasion, special assemblies on the lives and teachings of the gurus, and langars (community meals) are organized in the gurudwaras. Karah Prasad is distributed among all, and hymn chanting processions are held in the city. People light up their homes with lamps and candles and burst crackers to celebrate Gurpurab. The soulful Bhajan-Kirtan (hymns), Gurbani in the Gurdwaras, the Langar and the Karah Prasad. It is celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Kartik of the Hindu lunisolar calendar, which corresponds to November of the Gregorian calendar.

Gurupurab celebration :-

The celebrations usually commence with Prabhat Pheris, i.e. with early morning processions that begin at the Gurudwaras and proceed around the localities singing hymns. This time of the day is referred to as Amrit Vela. The day begins with the singing of Asa-di-Var (morning hymns) and followed by any combination of Katha and Kirtan in the praise of the Guru.Following that is the Langar, a special community lunch, which is arranged at the Gurudwaras by volunteers. The idea behind the free communal lunch is that everyone, irrespective of caste, class or creed, should be offered food in the spirit of seva (service) and bhakti (devotion).The celebration is generally similar for all Gurpurabs; only the hymns are different. Generally two days before the birthday, Akhand Path (a forty-eight-hour non-stop reading of the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of the Sikhs) is held in the Gurdwaras. The day prior to the birthday, a procession, referred to as Nagarkirtan, is organised. This procession is led by thePanj Pyaras (Five Beloved Ones). They head the procession carrying the Sikh flag, known as the Nishan Sahiband the Palki (Palanquin) of Guru Granth Sahib. They are followed by teams of singers singing hymns and devotees sing the chorus. There are brass bands playing different tunes and 'Gatka' teams display their swordsmanship through various martial arts and as mock battles using traditional weapons. The procession pours into the streets of the town. The passage is covered with banners and gates decorated flags and flowers, for this special occasion. The leaders spread the message of Guru Nanak.

Ganesh Chaturthi :-

The spectacular eleven days Ganesh Chaturthi festival honors the birth of the beloved Hindu elephant-headed god, Lord Ganesha. The start of the festival sees huge, elaborately crafted statutes of Ganesha installed in homes and podiums, which have been especially constructed and beautifully decorated. At the end of the festival, the statutes are paraded through the streets, accompanied by much singing and dancing, and then submerged in the water.

Ganesh Chaturthi Poojan vidhi :-

Lord Ganesha or Ganapati, the Lord of and destroyer of obstacles, is an extremely popular God in India. He is also called Vighneshvara or Vighnaharta. People mostly worship him asking for siddhi, success in undertakings, and buddhi, intelligence. He is worshipped before any venture is started. He is also the God of education, knowledge and wisdom, literature, and the fine arts. This puja is commonly performed on Ganesh Chaturthi day (i.e. 4th day) of bright half of moon in bhaadrapada month. Puja is done where possible at morning (6AM or earlier) and at noon. The puja at night is visarjana puja where lord is kept for one day ( unless the vigraha / idol is kept for more than one day). Have some soothing Indian Music (Shehnai or sa.ntuur or sitaar or naadasvaram - preferably any instrumental) going on in the background till the puujaa begins. The music should be pleasing (not too loud) for creating a serene mood. (Of course people should be internally peaceful also!) Wash Kalasha and fill it with clean water upto 3/4 of it. Cover and place it near the altar. Decorate the front door, altar and the place near the altar. Keep all the things for pujaa ready, near the altar. Observe Fast (if possible). Invite one’s relatives, friends (who have bhakti in the Lord). Duration - start to aaratii - 2 hours Total duration - start to finish - 3 to 3.5 hours. The festival is celebrated with enormous joy & energy.

Rakhi/Raksha Bandhan :-

Another famous festival of India, Rakhi is celebrated among Hindus. Signifying the brother-sister bonding, during Rakhi, the sister performs Aarti (prayer), applies tilak, and ties rakhi (a sacred thread) on the brother’s wrist wishing his well being. The brother, in return, vows to protect the sister. Another festival which has strong similarity to Rakhi is Bhaidooj which comes just after Diwali. The celebration of these festivals further strengthen the strong bonding of a brother and sister.

Pujan Vidhi on Shivratri as per Shiv Puran :-

It is advisable to have only single meal a day before Maha Shivaratri fasting. It is one of the common practices during fasting to make sure any undigested food is not left in the digestion system on the fasting day. On the day of Shivaratri, one should get up early in the morning and take bath. It is suggested to add black sesame seeds into the water. It is believed that the holy bath on the day of Shivaratri purifies not only the body but also the soul. After taking bath devotees should take Sankalp to observe full day fast and to break the fast on the next day. During Sankalp devotees pledge for self-determination throughout the fasting period and seek blessing of Lord Shiva to finish the fast without any interference. Devotees should abstain from all type of food during the fasting. In the strict form of fasting even water is not allowed. However, consumption of fruits and milk is suggested during day time which should be followed by strict fasting during night. In other words during day time fruits and milk can be consumed. Devotees should take second bath in the evening before doing Shiva Puja or visiting temple. If one is not able to visit the temple then makeshift Shiva Ling can be made to perform Puja activities. As per Puja Vidhi, Abhishek of Shiva Lingam should be performed with different materials. The milk, rose water, sandalwood paste, yogurt, honey, Ghee, sugar and the water are commonly used for Abhishek. Devotees, who perform four Prahar Puja, must perform water Abhishek during first Prahar, curd Abhishek during second Prahar, Ghee Abhishek during third Prahar and honey Abhishek during fourth Prahar apart from other materials. After the Abhishek ritual, Shiva Linga is adorned with the garland made of Bilva leaves. It is believed that Bilva leaves cool down Lord Shiva. After that Chandan or Kumkum is applied to the Shiva Linga which is followed by lighting lamp and Dhupa. The other items which are used to adorn Lord Shiva include flower of Madar (enkj) which is also known as Aak (vkd), Vibhuti which is also known as Bhasm. Vibhuti is sacred ash which is made using dried cow dung. उॅ नमः शिवाय (Om Namah Shivaya) is the mantra which is chanted during Puja duration.

Pujan Vidhi on Karwa Chauth :-

Karwa Chauth Puja is focused to seek blessing of Goddess Parvati. Women either draw Goddess Gaura and Chauth Mata on the wall or use Chauth Mata image on the printed Karwa Chauth Puja Calendar to worship Mata Parvati. Goddess Gaura and Chauth Mata are representations of Goddess Parvati. The best tiem to perform Karwa Chauth Puja, according to Vratraj, is during Sandhya time which starts after sunset. Hence, plese note down the city based Karwa Chauth Puja.
